Chairman’s Report: The Land of Endless Summer

We are on a mission to find cooperation among South Florida and all the Florida Keys other Chambers that will facilitate the membership of businesses that transact commerce in all contiguous markets in our chain of islands. Along with this strategic cooperation approach, we are developing a joint marketing plan to further the goal of the mission to continue the prestigious designation awarded to the Overseas Highway in October of 2009 by the Department Of Transportation, singles out our US1 as the only road in the state of Florida given such merit. This goal of creating an attractive and welcoming environment surrounding this unique road at its very heart is wrapped in the fact that starting at progression of the “All American Highway” Trailhead project. This

The Key Largo Chamber/Visitor Center building will also be known as the Trailhead, we are the first “official” stop on the trail of the one nationally designated scenic highway unique in our State and one of 31 such designated highways in the Country. Where else can you drive and enjoy traveling by car on a road over the sea? Each Chamber is welcomed to join us in support and furthering the Trailhead concept. I wholeheartedly believe that our well coordinated, strategic planning approach with all chambers in the Keys, Ocean Reef and the South Dade Chamber of Commerce, will provide great benefits to all. As the summer starts rearing its smiling shiny face and we start to feel the slowly increasing warmth of its touch, it seems to me that this is a good time to stop and reflect on our many blessings of living in this precious place and ponder not only on these blessings, but also the opportunities within our reach. We live in a very beautiful, but fragile environment. The geography and demographics of our chain of tropical sun drenched cays constitute a constant challenge to planners and visionaries alike. There is no question that we have special needs, and the one size fits all or what works for others approach, have historically proven to be huge mistakes.
