Chairman’s Report: Accomplished andWell Attended

of you who attended and/or supported the event. This newly formed 501c3 foundation was formed exclusively for the purpose of carrying out and supporting charitable and educational projects in partnership with the Key Largo Chamber of Commerce. Next, we followed that amazing event with the flagpole dedication ceremony (see page 2) outside at the Chamber for phase one of the Veterans Memorial Garden. Bob Stuarts’ vision is now indeed a reality! It was an honor to witness all of our military branches and first responders as the flags were raised and their stories were shared. We were proud to have representation from the Marines, Coast Guard and more. Special thanks to Pastor Charles Rosenbalm for delivering the invocation, Sylvia Murphy for her opening remarks, James Lane for directing the raising of the flags, Gale Raban for the laying of the wreath and our guest speakers who included Sheriff Rick Ramsay, State Attorney Dennis Ward, State Representative Holly Raschein and

the emotional speech by Purple Heart Recipient John Donnelly. We invite all of you to stop by the Chamber to view the new flagpoles, as this is a wonderful addition to our community. We are pleased to report that the Visitor Center has already seen increased traffic from these flags. Please stay tuned for the next phase of the veterans memorial garden. While I’m sharing kudos, I’d like to thank our DAC 5 leaders and the Tourist Development Council for approving the extension of the contract for the Key Largo Chamber of Commerce. These funds continue to provide services for the Chamber as well as promotion of the Florida Keys, Key Largo, and our local businesses and citizens. We are grateful. Thank You. Next up, your President and Board of Directors are entering into the first phase of Governance for Good Board of Directors training sessions. As some of you have experienced in other organizations this training is essential to ensure our focus and our priorities have a clear and measured path.

Mark Charles Chairman of the Board Key Largo Chamber of Commerce
